FACES of THAILAND

Lunchtime at the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

The Floating Market

At the long-neck tribe village. A long neck on a woman is considered to be beautiful in this tribe - women start applying the rings at 5 years old.

INSECTS of THAILAND

For the technically inclined these were all shot with a Sony 18-70mm lens on a Sony Alpha 100 camera, using the "Macro" setting.
I have been able to identify two of these insects - help would be appreciated if you can identify any of the others.

IMAGES of THAILAND

In February 2008 I spent two weeks hiking and touring in Thailand. Over the next little while. I will be posting images of that beautiful country.

Let's start with elephants!

ELEPHANT NATURE PARK (CHIANG MAI)

This park is a home for elephants that have suffered terrible injuries from accidents, abuse, and ignorance during their working lives. Here, they can live a peaceful life doing what comes naturally - eat, sleep, and play.

Niagara Butterfly Conservatory

A wonderfully colourful, warm place to visit in the wintertime - guaranteed to chase the winter blahs away! Unfortunately, tripods are not permitted, so all photos are handheld (Sony Alpha digital SLR and Sigma 105mm macro lens).

Curves

Patterns intrigue me. This is outdoor auditorium seating in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Winter Sunrise

Early morning on the Thames River in London, Ontario. It was -15C!

Bowing to Winter

Madawanson Lake Sunset

What better way to end a day than to sit and watch the sunset!

Water Lily

Kayaking takes you to many places that you normally would not see. This was taken in a lagoon of water liliies in a remote lake in Northern Ontario.
